Geometry Summer School: Investigating the Golden Mean - Geometry as a Design Tradition

  • Dumfries House, Scotland UK (map)

The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts is pleased to announce the second Geometry Summer School at Dumfries House, 15 – 19 August. This annual event brings together geometry practitioners and teachers to engage in positive dialogue, share insights, and exchange practical drawing methods.

Our five day residential Geometry Summer School immerses the participant in a series of in-depth lectures, seminars and practical workshops. Our programme this year revolves around the famous but often misunderstood Golden Ratio. How can this incredibly simple yet infinitely complex proportion inspire practical design and craft interpretations?

Join us this summer as we seek to understand humanity’s love affair with the Golden Ratio. Engage with nature and historical sources. Explore the integration of geometric processes and their relevance to contemporary craft design.
